Job Description
Designs, creates, and repairs custom dental prosthetics like crowns, bridges, dentures, and braces, working from dentists’ prescriptions to improve patient appearance, speech, and function, using skills in artistry, science, and technology (including CAD/CAM) to craft precise, comfortable appliances from materials like porcelain, metal, and plastic. They focus on fabrication and quality, ensuring restorations fit perfectly and look natural, but generally don’t have direct patient contact, unlike dentists.
Core Responsibilities
- Design & Fabrication: Interpret dentist prescriptions (impressions/scans) to build custom devices.
- Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials (ceramics, plastics, metals) for durability, aesthetics, and biocompatibility.
- Craftsmanship: Use hand skills and digital tools (CAD/CAM) for meticulous construction.
- Quality Control: Perform checks to ensure high standards for fit, function, and appearance.
